The findings showed that females who adhered to healthy eating habits lived about 34 more years after reaching age 50 contrasting 24 more for females who did not. Males who ate healthy lived a mean of 31 more years without developing any conditions after age fifty, while those who failed to maintain a healthy diet lived on average 23 more after age 50. This is proof that eating healthy increases your chance of living about 10 more years than those who rely on unhealthy diets.

Cardiovascular diseases, kidney stones, cancer, and diabetes are some of the chronic diseases that occur after a long while of failing to observe a good diet.

Healthy foods like fruits and vegetables have antioxidants that help reduce oxidation of cells which often cause cancer. Other nutrients like vitamin C boost your immune system to help protect your body from infections that may cut off your life expectancy by killing you. Therefore, healthy food increases your life expectancy by reducing the rate at which you get sick, supplying nutrients to keep your body organs at optimal performance to make your body function properly which ultimately prolongs your life.
