Healthy Foods to Eat in Your 20s

Not many in their 20s would say that they are worried about their health, especially if they have a ‘you only live once’ mentality. It is a time and season when adults want to live life to the fullest. If you’re in your 20s, maybe you just got your first real job, are dating or planning for a marriage, basically not looking after yourself. Your greatest dilemma at 20 or 29 might be how to stop eating so much junk food, or how to cut on drinking while preparing to start the next decade of your life.

You do not have to live

You do not have to live on fast food every night, there are healthier fast food options to choose from. It is never too early to start taking care of your body. Instead of having french fries, or deep-fried chicken, opt for rotisserie chicken, steamed dumplings, or even just salad. Salads at a restaurant taste so much better than what we make at home, ironically, since we use the same ingredients. Next time you go shopping, get some frozen veggies, something you can just prepare in under 2 minutes in your microwave. Throw away the unhealthy junk food and fill your cabinets with whole wheat bread, pasta, or brown rice.

Healthy Foods to Eat in Your 20s

You’re still growing in your 20s, so you should focus on bodybuilding foods such as tofu, steak, chicken, or any protein readily available to you. It is a time when you’re working harder than ever, burning the candle at both ends. Keep your body growing to have enough to burn on your hangouts or tedious work hours. Don’t get all your carbs from unhealthy snacks, try out sweet potatoes, quinoa, or brown rice. It’s better to have a meal that will leave you feeling full while making your body healthier, rather than having foods that might taste great at the moment, but might have you in a hospital a few years down the line.

Parties never end in your 20s, it’s just a drinking spree after a drinking spree. There’s nothing particularly wrong with that, but just make sure to have liver cleansing foods often to protect your organs from irreparable damage. Lemon juice, garlic, and onions are good examples of liver cleansing foods. It doesn’t mean that you should chew on an onion like a fruit, simply incorporate more when cooking. Having fruit juice is not the same as having an actual fruit, the vitamin count is not the same. Pick the fruits you enjoy and make a fruit salad to gain full nutritional benefits.
